Summary: This role is responsible for the leadership, staff development and sales management of Maury Donnelly & Parr including our affiliated entities and Branch offices. The Personal Lines Manager is expected to deliver results in line with or exceed targeted revenue and net operating income goals.

As one of our four core business units and best performing, MDP desires to grow market share further by increasing our investment and capabilities with the high net worth / private client personal lines space. While we have always loved the business, our investments in dedicated sales staff within Personal Lines have been revolutionary in our achieved results. Momentum is significant and the team has been built in an environment of sharing collective wins and success. Oversight of PL currently rolls into the Director of Operations and an EVP at MDP. Individuals that have other responsibilities which detract from dedicated day in, day out focus to the department.

Our belief is that our achieved results over the last 2-3 years are stronger than peers for both new business premium and top line revenue growth. Our desire is to invest in a team player/leader with expertise and experience to boost our results even further by providing dedicated focus to an already successful winning team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide mentoring of all PL staff including coaching, risk collaboration, decision-making guidance, assessment of communication skills and overall branch management.
  • Effectively communicate performance expectations; monitor and hold staff accountable for their performance and their actions.
  • Advise on Applied Epic procedural expectations, best practices, service standards/workflows; ensure proper AMS protocols are followed department wide; responsible for updating policies and procedures as needed.
  • Handle performance management, talent management, including staff performance reviews and feedback, goal tracking, measurement of metric performance and HR-related issues.
  • Distribution of New business amongst the team.
  • Assist MDP leadership with the identification (when possible) and evaluation of opportunities involving books of business to purchase and agency acquisition targets.
  • Act as a ‘Coach’ for teammates to leverage strengths and identify opportunities for improvement, conduct one-on-one meetings with timely transparency of performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or seven to ten years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificates, licenses, and registrations required: State Property and Casualty Insurance License
  • Computer skills required: Applied Systems: Epic Online Database software; Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong business acumen and people management skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Occasionally required to stand/walk; frequently required to sit; continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity and to talk and hear. Normal office environment.
