(June 1, 2017) – MDP Programs, and National Trust Insurance Services, LLC, divisions of Maury, Donnelly & Parr, Inc., have formed a new strategic relationship with Zurich North America.
This relationship combines our Historic Property Program, which provides insurance solutions for historic property owners and preservation organizations, with Zurich’s broad and flexible insurance products. The PastForward® policy, which is written on a Historic Replacement Cost basis, will be administered by MDP Programs.
“Our goal is to work with agents and clients to secure a policy that will consider a number of factors, including proper valuation of the property and help protect against the potential loss of historic significance,” said Paul LaVardera, Sr. Vice President. “We have created a specialized product, with Zurich, that recognizes the deficiencies that can exist for historic properties in standard policies.”
Historic commercial properties that fall into the following categories will be targeted for the program:
o City, social or country clubs
o Hotels and Inns
o Museums
o Preservation organizations
o Real estate and retail property (residential and commercial)
o Restaurants
o Theatres
The program is available nationwide with the exception of Hawaii. Properties eligible for the program include:
o Properties individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places or a state or local register
o Contributing building in a historic district
o Building built before 1950 and having the same coverage needs as listed designated historic properties
A key distinction with MDP Programs, and National Trust Insurance Services, LLC, is their affiliation with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. This relationship has been maintained since 2003 as a joint venture, with National Trust Insurance Services, LLC, as the for-profit subsidiary.
